The constant search for new antifungal compounds is therefore necessary. Cyanobacteria are known to produce a variety of secondary metabolites, out of which some appear to have antibiotic, anticancer or antifungal effects. In this work, a screening of cyanobacteria from the Antarctica was performed in order to discover potential new antifungal drugs. The analysis of a first set of methanol extracts from 15 different strains put in evidence the antifungal activity of one of them.
