Abstract:
An experiment was set up to investigate the role of excretions and secretions in the indirect transmission of classical swine fever virus (CSFV). In five small pens, 10 weaner pigs (two pigs per pen) were housed and inoculated with CSFV. Experimental infection was successful in all pigs. The infected pigs were kept in the pens for a period of 15 days after which the pens were depopulated and pigs were killed.
