Abstract:

Suicide is a critical societal and public health concern, with far-reaching impacts on individuals and their loved ones, and society as a whole. Evidence from cross-sectional data of the Belgian Health and Well-being Cohort (BELHEALTH) shows 13% of people living in Wallonia reported having had suicide ideations in 2023. This requires urgent attention and the creation of a regional action plan for suicide prevention in Wallonia, focussing on evidence-based universal, selective and indicated suicide prevention.
