Sciensano & Indoor air pollution

Last updated on 2-5-2019 by Admin Drupal

We spend most of our time indoors. Our activities, the objects and the materials that surround us release substances into the air that can be harmful to health.

What does Sciensano do?

In collaboration with the regions, Sciensano’s Mycology and Aerobiology division carries out sampling and analysis work on a number of microbiological pollutants (bacteria, fungi, molds) in private (residential) and public places.

Sciensano also runs a workplace intervention service in close cooperation with external and internal services for prevention and protection at work. Training is also dispensed and specific sampling equipment made available.

Sciensano is also collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) as part of a program to monitor indoor pollution in schools.
