In short

Sciensano must be able to deal with a variety of incidents, threats and/or crises involving an unexpected and acute chemical or biological risk to the public. In this context, we coordinate an integrated and effective lab analysis, risk assessment and recommendations in terms of public health.

Project description

The aim of this project is to strengthen Sciensano’s role as a national reference centre for CBRN “C” (chemical) and “B” (biological) risks. We do this by responding as effectively as possible to the expectations of national partners, in a more global perspective of better preparedness in the event of an incident/crisis, including CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) terrorism.

Main outcomes include:

  • Develop and maintain transversal intern documentation and procedures
  • Support the development and implementation of CBRN activities at Sciensano
  • Follow opportunities and funding for CBRN activities at Sciensano
  • Support & debrief CBRN real cases management at Sciensano
