Test description
- Molecular typing of enterococci via whole genome sequencing (WGS) of enterococci. Based on the sequences obtained, the MLST type is determined.
- Characterisation in depth is done using the core genome in combination with epidemiological data.
Purpose of test WGS
Determination of sequence type and clonal relatedness
Criteria for performing this test
- See identification enterococci
- More than 1 strain must be available and suspected outbreak only after contact with reference centre (referentiecentrum@uza.be).
- Suitable samples
- Clean culture on plate with individual colonies
Instructions for transport
See identification enterococci
Unacceptable requests
- No clean culture
- Incomplete request form
Turn around time and frequency of analysis
- Analysis frequency: Per complete run unless outbreak (contact NRC if outbreak)
