Dr. ir. Nicolas Bruffaerts PhD

Nicolas Bruffaerts is bioengineer and has a PhD in biological sciences (thesis completed at the Immunology service of the former Scientific Institute of Public Health).
He is responsible for the Aerobiology unit (Mycology & Aerobiology service) and for the management of the Belgian aerobiological surveillance network (www.airallergy.be). He coordinates the monitoring of allergenic pollen and fungal spore levels in the outdoor air and studies their health impact. He has also been Vice-President of the European Aerobiology Society since 2024.
